Came here to say Spark, but since that is not ideal I would definitely say Pigeon. Used it before and it is very well rounded.

Yes, Skype talks to FB by default as long as you sign in

I have used some web based clients in the past. They were not all that great, but they worked and there is something to be said about not needing to have anything deployed to the users' machines at all...

I moved to Pidgin a few years back... Was logging into about 8 different accounts with it.

Pidgin is the only one that I have used that is still around that I know of. It has been good for a long time. I would recommend it.
